PLEASANT HILL, Calif., — Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey recognized Contra Costa Television (CCTV) as the Education Champion for the month of January 2024 at the most recent county Board of Education meeting. Contra Costa County Director of Communications & Media Kristi Jourdan, CCTV Operations Director Chris Verdugo and their colleagues were publicly thanked for CCTV’s collaboration on video projects, the agency’s Teacher of the Year Celebration, Poetry Out Loud, and programming showcased on edTV. These efforts help promote the excellent work taking place in Contra Costa County’s public schools.
“We are grateful to have a fantastic relationship with CCTV that allows us to have added resources for filming and live streaming Contra Costa County’s Teacher of the Year Celebration,” Superintendent Mackey said. “Besides providing technical support, CCTV broadcasts events and programming on edTV that highlights public instruction, the arts, and educational resources for families.”
CCTV is the flagship of Contra Costa County’s cable television programming, bringing viewers special events, government meetings, and locally produced shows. The television station operates and provides content for several channels throughout Contra Costa County. These channels fall under Community Access Television, or Public, Educational, and Government Access Channels (

The Superintendent of Schools recognizes Education Champions, like CCTV, for going above and beyond to support students, schools, and education programming in Contra Costa County. Education Champions help create opportunities, build relationships, and provide a valuable resource to the county’s public schools and the students they serve.
