Far East County Student Programs (Heritage/O'Hara Park office) provide special day classes and community based instruction for approximately 110 students in nine classrooms across eastern Contra Costa County. Our students are ages five through age twenty-two. We are currently included on primary, middle school and high school campuses in Brentwood and Oakley. East County is proud of the new Braille Center at our community school campus in Brentwood.
Our regional office is located on the O'Hara Park Middle School campus in Oakley. Support staff includes speech pathologist, psychologists, a nurse, occupational therapists, an adaptive physical education specialist and an augmentative and assistive technology specialist. The region is also supported by an aurally handicapped teacher, a Braillist, a computer technician and a teacher of the visually impaired.
All staff use innovative approaches to facilitate instruction and transition into the community. Our mission is to educate and challenge students to achieve their maximum potential as independent and productive members of their community. We strive to meet our mission by providing an integrated learning environment utilizing technology, evidence-based practices, community resources and the teamwork of dedicated parents and care providers.
